5 Benefits of HIIT
HIIT is my go-to training style. It's quick, unbelievably effective for burning calories and the best option for those short on time!

What Is HIIT?
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a form of exercise in which you alternate between very intense anaerobic periods and slower recovery periods for a shorter, more efficient workout. “The high intensity intervals should be performed at near maximum effort and the recovery intervals should be done at about 50%,”
says personal trainer Daniel Lagimodiere (reallifit.com).
What Are The Benefits of HIIT?
1. You Get Results Quicker
With HIIT you can have a great session in as little as 15 minutes
Because you're training at maximal effort for a short amount of time, you can train MUCH harder per set. This in turn, burns more calories in much less time!
So for those of you who are always chasing your tail, short on time and can never seem to find time to train, HIIT is perfect for you
2. Increases Your Metabolism Long After You Finish Training
HIIT boosts your resting metabolic rate, which results in you continually burning calories 24 hours after your session has finished
Think of two cars at a set of traffic lights. One's a Smart car, the other is a 5L Mustang. Both of their engines are on idle, both of them are still using fuel
HIIT supercharges your idle mode! Turning your metabolism from an Eco-friendly 2 seater to a energy-gussling muscle car!

3. You Don't Even Need Equipment
HIIT allows you to train anywhere, at any time
You don't need a gym membership or any fancy equipment
You just need yourself and a bit of space
Your body weight and HIIT is the perfect place to get into exercise and start transforming your life. You can train from home in as little as 15 minutes.. perfect
4. Good For Heart Health
HIIT pushes your heart rate into a much higher % of it's max capacity than slow, continuous training
Your heart's a muscle that needs to be "flexed" and used frequently to stay healthy and strong
HIIT causes you to train your heart at around 60-85% of it's max capacity. This forces your heart and cardio vascular system to become MUCH stronger and effective
A 2006 study found that participants who took part in 6 weeks of HIIT could cycle for twice as long as they could before the study, while maintaining the same pace
5. A Challenge
What I love most about HIIT is its ability to train someone so effectively in a very short amount of time and how the same workout can be challenging to multiple people
For example if myself, Usain Bolt and Hurley from Lost (first plus-sized person I thought of!) were to train HIIT together we could
The squad
An example spectrum from un-fittest to fittest (Hurley could be way fitter than me however!)
If we agreed to do 30 seconds of pushups, squats and sprints with a 30 second rest interval, we could do. We would all just perform a different total reps
HIIT is about training at maximal effort. So our maximal efforts would logically be different. For example; Hurley might complete 10 pressups, I perform 20 and Usain 30
But by the end of those 30 seconds we'd all be exhausted
HIIT is a challenge to everyone who is willing to push themselves!
The Real Reason I Love HIIT
HIIT for me and my mission is more than just a training style, it's a functional way of humans moving
Let's go back in time and imagine early-man foraging for berries and roots
As he forages he hears a rustling and the snap of a twig. As he looks up he notices two white glowing eyes of a predator baring down on him
NOW
What would you do in this situation? Jog like a marathon runner or GET THE F*** OUT OF THERE
You'd run as fast as physically possible right? And so did our ancestors
Early-man invented HIIT before they could they could talk or create fire
It's the same with kids. When kids are playing in the park they're not pacing themselves.
They're going like the clappers, then they stop to catch their breath
That's HIIT! That's the way we should be training!
Conclusion
So HIIT is quick, effective and incredible for your heart health
It's also great for burning calories and increasing your metabolism. Plus it creates an amazing challenge in as little as 15 minutes!
These are the exact reasons that I use HIIT in every single one of my Bootcamps! I want my cleints to get the most out of each workout with me
